Our “Green” Wedding

Why?
In an effort to maintain the true spirit of the marriage ceremony and at the same time remain socially responsible, we have decided to reduce the wastefulness and support open markets for local, organic, recycled, and recyclable goods.

How?
Here is a list of things we did in order to make our wedding a little more environmentally friendly and lesson our carbon footprint:

The invitations and programs were handmade by Brian and Lori using 100% recycled paper, non-toxic inks, and energy star qualified products when available.

Our ceremony & reception venue show Emory’s commitment to lessening the impact on the environment, with both Emory hotels being Green Seal Certified.

The hotels, ceremony, and reception venues are all within walking distance, eliminating the need to use vehicles.

The ceremony will be outdoors, eliminating the need for energy use.

The bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses will all be reusable - no one-time only outfits.

All flowers used will be locally sourced and organic.

Carbon offsets will be purchased for all wedding-related travel, including guests and vendors.

All candles used will be made from soy-based wax.

Use of a professional photographer with only digital photos (no proofs printed).
